2021.09.25 02:00 the_fsm_butler Prop 39 Autopsy
This has been a disappointing ordeal all around, and I just wanted to get others' thoughts as well as share my own.
To the proposer, John Patten: As you can see from the community reaction and vote outcome, and as I think you would admit yourself, there was not even close to enough thought and effort put into this proposal. If I were to put a percentage on it, it was maybe 1% complete. Seriously, it was that bad, and you should consider yourself lucky it wasn't No w/ Veto-ed.
The proposal you put on chain is what matters, and should not have to be clarified through Telegram, Discord, Reddit, etc. Its merits can be debated in these places, but imo it should not be necessary to search in all these places to actually understand what you're trying to propose.
I do give you credit for putting your real name on it and putting it out there. It's more than what 99% of Osmonauts would do.
To the proposed Community Support DAO Admins: Saying "hello, I'm the guy in the proposal" on Commonwealth is not enough. Not even close. You were potentially to be in charge of a fund worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Perhaps you thought you were introducing yourself to people who already knew you, and a few months ago that probably would have been the case. It is not the case anymore.
But, I will go ahead and assume that you are very active community members, whether or not you are on the official Osmosis team (again, we need more info), and say thank you for helping get the community to this point. Sincerely, thank you.
To the defenders of this prop: Imo the underlying idea of funding community support is a good one and forward-thinking. In that, I agree with you. However, would you agree the prop text itself is not up to snuff? I mean, just look at the posts in this sub. Some people obviously felt insulted by it, so please, empathize with that before you just dismiss their opinions. In order to even get an understanding of the full idea, I had to look across many disparate sources. Every vote should not require that amount of research.
Osmosis has grown. Even though you may already be a part of the community and know JP and who the proposed admins of this multisig are, other people do not. Even if the need for a community support fund seems obvious to you, it is arrogant to assume it should be obvious to everyone. This attitude only further entrenches the detractors.
The community fund can and should be used for worthy projects, and I would rather see them implemented without having a significant minority feel like they were forced to come along or worse yet, ignored entirely.
To the detractors of this prop: I think I understand where you're coming from, and I agree this prop rightly didn't pass. However, please don't view this as win for you and a loss for them. The real "us vs them" in this situation is us, the osmosis/defi community, vs them, the cfi banks and regulators.
Yes, the prop text was terrible. Yes, the defenders of this prop came off as arrogant. But please, try to understand where they're coming from as well. Up until very recently, Osmosis was a small group of people who were working very hard to give us this awesome platform. A few months ago, this sort of suggestion probably would have passed without issue because they all knew and trusted each other. Osmosis has grown, and it takes time to adjust to that fact because they're human beings.
I have seen a lot of "don't trust, verify" on this sub, and again, I agree. The prop text asked for far, far too much trust. But otoh, I have also seen comments calling the 5 proposed DAO admins 5 random people. How did you come to this conclusion? Did you trust your gut? Did you trust somebody else on this sub who was saying that? Or did you actually verify that indeed these 5 people were picked out at random? If you believe this proposal was an insider cash grab, I again would ask you to ask yourself how you came to that conclusion.
There is a distinction to be made between "don't trust, verify" and giving someone "the benefit of the doubt". I am not as OSMO insider. I have no idea who the proposer or the DAO admins are. But I give them the benefit of the doubt that they are not near-sighted, greedy, elites who are trying to screw over the common OSMO holder for a quick cash grab. I ask you extend them the same courtesy, because personally I would love the see the community fund used wisely to grow the Osmosis ecosystem even more.
Going forward: I think this is a normal growing pain of a community, and I still hope we can come together to support further progress of Osmosis. There is most likely about to be a relative shitload of people coming to Osmosis with Terra turning on IBC, which is why I think a Community Support DAO is a good idea and worthy of community funds. Imo it is in the interest of all OSMO holders to give new users an excellent first impression and ongoing support.
I apologize fo the lengthly post, but I think Cosmos and Osmosis are seriously awesome, and I want to see them succeed. Finally, please take a minute to watch Vitalik and Sunny talk about DAOs:

2021.09.25 02:00 autotldr Hundreds of Thousands Take to Streets Worldwide for 'Uproot the System' Climate Strikes | "The climate crisis has not disappeared," said Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. "It's the opposite—it's even more urgent now than it was before."
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 74%. (I'm a bot)
Young people by the hundreds of thousands took to the streets across the globe on Friday to deliver a resounding message to world leaders: The climate crisis is getting worse, and only radical action will be enough to avert catastrophe and secure a just, sustainable future for all.
From Pakistan to Italy to Germany to the Philippines, the worldwide "Uproot the System" actions marked the largest climate demonstrations since the coronavirus pandemic forced campaigners to take their protests online last year.
Organizers said that more than 1400 climate strikes are set to take place in at least 70 countries Friday, with hundreds of thousands expected to attend demonstrations in Germany alone.
The latest youth-led global action kicked off just weeks ahead of the pivotal COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, which many civil society organizations want to be postponed over fears that inequities in coronavirus vaccine access could prevent delegates from developing nations-those most vulnerable to the climate crisis-from attending.
The colonizers of the north have a climate debt to pay for their disproportionate amount of historic emissions and that starts with the increase of climate finance to implement anti-racist climate reparations, the cancellation of debts especially for damage caused by extreme weather events, and providing adaptation funds that serve the communities.
Valentina Ruas, a Brazilian activist, told The Guardian that "the global north should be developing climate policies that have at their core climate justice and accountability to the most affected people and areas.

2021.09.25 02:00 Big_Ad6423 An Old One About a Wolf
One cold winter morning, in a nameless European village, a body turns up. Its mutilated, bad. Hardly a body, really. People disappear. Then, more bodies, but you can’t tell who’s who. It’s tragic. Things get worse, the town meets. People yell, accuse, raise their gardening tools like weaponry. Torches are lit; people are afraid. Something’s in the forest, but what?
“It’s a wolf!” they say. There are whispers of something more nefarious… But no one buys it. If it’s a wolf, it can be killed. And kill it they will! A celebrated hunter enters the forest in search of blood. He returns with the head of a giant grey wolf with teeth the size of knives. Everyone celebrates, drinks, lets down their guard. The killings continue. The hunter returns to the forest. Three nights later, he’s back, but different. He won’t speak, won’t go near the forest. Won’t go outside. Finally, he says: “Tis no wolf in those woods. Tis some Beast.”
Word spreads that “Tis some beast!” in those woods. Champions gather from afar, seeking Glory. Hunters, heroes, warriors, knights, all spill into the village, more than a few accompanied by squires singing their praises. The King, stirred from his divine boredom, dispatches his royal guard to bring him the Beast’s head. In the end, hundreds come to kill it; many die, terribly. (“Tis some Beast,” after all.) Those not reduced to a bony pulp flee in search of a less hazardous quest. The royal guard simply tell the King the Beast had no head.
A year later, champions gone, all seems hopeless. At night, the Beast is everywhere. In the forest, outside the door, in dreams. All seems hopeless, until…
A stranger arrives. Young, scrawny, and, seemingly, meek, he arrives looking for work. (Job opportunities in that town being, understandably, quite abundant.) He enters the tavern seeking merriment but finds, instead, a familiar dread. He sits down, drinks, begins to chat. Naturally, the Beast comes up.
Hushes. Whispers. Foreboding. Tales are told. “Tis no wolf!” someone yells. The lights might as well flicker at this point; it’s like a show they’ve done this so much. Then, as always, the stranger makes an offer. Laughter erupts. Then, silence.
He climbs onto a table: “I can’t explain how I will kill the Beast, but I promise you this: Tomorrow, your nightmare will be over.” An outburst of cheers, laughter, groans. He smiles, finishes his drink, and leaves. A residual squire, abandoned by his cowardly champion, follows.
“You realize tis no wolf,” he says. “Tis a beast!”
The stranger smiles.
“As am I,” he says, and walks into the dark forest, his only light the full moon rising above the pines.
Next day, no news. Tragic, but not surprising. People drink in his honor. Then, the tavern door swings open. It’s him, naked, covered in blood and dirt. Everyone in awe, eyes open, jaws dropping.
Silence. Then, the squire: “Well… Did you kill the Beast?”
“Tis no such thing as Beasts.”

2021.09.25 02:00 PrinceofJunes How to compromise?
Me and my gf have been dating for a year and half and it's been going great. The problem is that we've only been watching her shows recently and I'm starting to get upset. In the beginning we would watch all her movie recommendations (Twilight series, Divergent, etc). I was willing to watch them even thought a lot of her movies her hated, I wanted to watch them because they made her happy and I could appreciate the stories for what they were, as long as we were together I was more than willing.(I actually ended up liking all of them. ) Then we moved on to the Marvel movies(I already saw them, thought it was a nice idea but it was still under her suggestion that we watched them.) After finishing that she recommended a show that had 11 seasons, with each season having 12 hour long episodes. I was ok with this and quickly loved the show but then we stopped @ 10 to pick up a different 11 season, 12 episodeseach and sfv m an hour long show without warning because she really wanted to rewatch it. Now throughout this time while watching the 1st show I've recommended a comedy movie here and there and each time I've been met with a flat out no for months(aside from the few Marvel tv shows that have come out). It didn't bother me at first but now it's starting to chip at me. I thought I could let it go but last night while watching the second long show I didn't realize it but I had a scowl on my face and my arms crossed. She noticed and we both just went to sleep after the episode. I need some advice. How can I approach this topic in a sensitive way.I don't think throwing out numbers of how many hours we've dedicated to her stuff is the right way to approach the conversation but it's the only way I can think of.
Tldr: Me and my gf have spent a lot of time watching her movies and shows and barely any of mine. How can I approach the conversation in a sensitive way?

2021.09.25 02:00 AlbatrossAirline Is it possible for all of the matter in my brain to be reformed back into a human brain after death?
This is more of a bad showerthought than a question, but hear me out. Once you die, the matter in your brain is going to be transformed in some way; it'll decompose if you're buried, it'll go up in smoke if you're cremated, and so on. Since this matter will theoretically exist forever and will be trapped (presumably forever) on Earth, is there a chance that all of the matter will eventually be recycled back into a human brain? For example, let's say you're buried after death and you start to decompose. Organisms will feed on your brain and integrate the matter in your brain into their bodies. Things higher up the food chain will eat these organisms and so on until the matter would eventually reach the plate of a pregnant human being, where there's a chance it'll be reconstituted back into part of a developing brain. Is this even plausible?

2021.09.25 02:00 Fearless_Abies_2549 9.5 month old puppy keeps peeing inside
We have a 9.5 mont old puppy, he was all but house trained around 6 months (for that age, we're aware it takes more time), then around 7.5 months he started regressing and peeing inside the house, ALOT. Like huge puddles over and over and I couldn't believe a dog could even hold this much piss. We been reading and know we shouldn't reprimand him too much to not make the behavior worse. Have to be honest sometimes it's really frustrating and I do yell at him, but mostly I'll say NO, clean it up and take him out. By now at 9.5 months it's not as bad as the beginning where it was piles of piss, now it's the occasionally squirt mostly later in the day, but basically if we don't take him out every 2 hours there will be an accident. He'll sometimes walk up to me and pee a little right by me as if to show me he has to go. I'm trying to not associate that behavior with showing how to go out. We have had very few days without even a very small accident. Sometimes we'll get a streak of a few days and then he'll regress again. He also almost always pisses a little squirt in the hallway walking to the elevator (we live in an apartment building).
From the best I can find/read it seems to be a marking teenage pup behavior that others have dealt with. I'm hoping that if we can get through this "period" (No idea how long ugh) he'll stop. We're moving to a house and hoping he won't destroy it too much. I will say he does better with constant access to the outside he'll rarely go outside. However, we can't bring him to friends anymore. He will definitely pee inside their places :(
Anyone else going through or have been through some kind of similar behavior and have some advice or just as good some words of hope. We love our doggo no matter what and are working together on this. He's honestly nearly perfect in every way besides this one thing so we feel lucky and very happy every day with him! Dogs are the best.
Thanks in advance!!!
